With the second installment of my TV picks I’ve decided to bring notice to one of the most EPIC shows I’ve seen on TV, big screen or anywhere… Game Of Thrones. Think of it as a mix between Lord Of The Rings and The Tudors with a sprinkle of The Wire’s goodness in there as well. For years HBO has had the Midas touch so my expectations were sky high when this came out although I was somewhat skeptical of the reception it would receive.

Its not everyday a show creates its own universe coupled with its own mythology and sprawling landscapes and characters. After watching the first season I am prepared to say that Game Of Thrones is for everyone, that is, with strong stomach. As it is customary in HBO shows, sex and violence are a plenty but this does not distract from the shows overall drama. With more than 30 characters GOT can be a tad tedious to follow but every character has a story and an arc that gives credence to the rich history of the places and people they value. You get to know these characters and understand their motivations, while not always agreeing with them.

This show is unlike any other and while I have not given any plot details I’ll leave you with the trailer so you get the idea. I absolutely loved this show and if you’re anything like me you’ll love it too. It’s good to know that there are still shows out there that are still willing to take chances, and i don’t mean jump the shark chances… Here’s looking at you True Blood. Enjoy.
